Hi! I’m Tahara and I live in Glasgow. My parents are from Pakistan but I was born here in the United Kingdom. I like to live in Glasgow and I like this country. I am a fan of Glasgow football team.
In Glasgow there live people from different countries.
Living together with people with a different culture and religion is great if all the people respect each other. Due to the fact there are people of other cultures, we can learn a lot of things of their culture and traditions. We can eat Chinese or Turkish food in our cities. We can have friends from other countries and it is fantastic.

How difficult it is for people with different cultural, social and religious background to live together? Give examples from the film.

The main obstacle to achieve a society with different cultural, social and religious backgrounds are intolerance and prejudices. To live together with someone different from you, you don’t have to try to make him or her be like you, as Casim’s family tries with Roisin when they tell Casim that she has to be a muslim or the priest when tells Roisin that Casim has to be a catholic, to live togheter with someone different from you, you have to accept that there are differences between the two of you, but instead of trying to eliminate them you have to respect them, leave them as they are and live with that. Living together isn’t difficult for open-minded people, but there are too many intolerant people or with prejudices even if they aren’t aware of this, society has taught us in a lot of occasions that differences are no good. Society exagerates the bad side of different people and creates topics and prejudices that make us not want to mingle with people from other countries because we think we already know how they are, and that they won’t treat us well. That’s what mades Casim’s father more worried because he believes that British people don’t understand his culture maybe because someday someone British insulted him for being Pakistani and so he generalizes and thinks that all British people are the same and so Roisin won’t love Casim much longer.

Agrin is a very special character in the film. Can you explain how her life story is unfolded through the film ?

Agrin is one of the main characters in the film. Since the beginning of the film, we know what will happen to her, how she ends. We also know that she’s Hengov’s sister, another important character. But we don’t know who the blind kid who’s always with them, is.
During most part of the film, we see that Agrin doesn’t like the toddler, she always says to Hengov that she wants to leave the village without him. She tries to kill him in different ways.
The last time we see her is before she commits suicide, throwing herself from a cliff. Just before this moment, we know which her relationship with the toddler is: she had been raped by the men who had killed her family, and the kid is her son.
From this moment we understand why she finally kills him and herself: in the society where she has grown, there’s no place for girls in the same situation as Agrin.

Aquest es un dels treballs que penjarem d'alumnes de 4rt d' ESO, després de veure la pel·lícula ' Ae Fond Kiss' que parla dels conflictes i dificultats que podem tenir vivint en una societat multicultural com pot ser la británica per exemple, i també sobre com podem superar-los amb ganes, amor i tolerància.





How difficult it is for people with different cultural, social and religious background to live together? Give examples from the film.

To live together is very easy, but often we make it very hard because too many people have race prejudices and don’t respect humans who were born in another country. If you have come from a less developed country a lot of people will see you as a delinquent or an ignorant and they probably won’t understand or respect your customs.
We could see that when Roisin talked to the priest and he insulted Casim because his parents were Pakistanis. Another example of racial prejudice could be when Tahara said that she was proud to be a mixture and some classmates hit and insulted her.

SPEECH AT SCHOOL ABOUT THE DANGERS AND CONSEQUENCES OF LANDMINES

Hello, I work for an ONG and I have come here today to speak of landmines, the dangers and consequences involved.
Landmines are used in wars to kill or incapacitate soldiers and civilians, landmines are buried under the ground and when someone steps on them, they explode injuring or killing the person.
These mines are produced by developed countries and sold to countries at war. Thousands of them are buried and to deactivate them is very expensive.
There are places where landmines are injuring people years after the war is over.
People of all ages are disabled after stepping on a mine and they don’t receive any help.
People in these countries live in constant fear, they don’t know where landmines are and they can’t do anything to solve that problem.

Treballs dels alumnes de l'IES Bruguers

Hem obert una nova ''funció'' per aquest blog.

A partir d'ara no només penjarem coses sobre les activitats extraescolars que es faran al centre si no també treballs que realitzin els alumnes, tant d'ESO com de batxillerat.
Es diran nom i cognoms i si algú vol que penjem algun treball seu (tipus redaccions i coses així, no treballs de vint fulls) ens ho pot deixar en un comentari i ens posem en contacte (:

EL DILLUNS ANEM DE CONVIVÈNCIES

Ja és dijous i el proper dillus dia 13 els i les alumnes de primer d'ESO se'n van a "La Granja" de Santa Maria de Palautordera (Montseny)
S'ha de començar a pensar en la motxilla, què hi posarem?

• Sac de dormir
• Pijama
• Anorac
• Necesser
• Xancles per a la dutxa
• Calçat d'esport i calçat de recanvi o botes d'aigua (per si plou)
• Roba per als dos dies
• Líquid repel·lent de mosquits
• Llanterna (amb piles)
  

Les activitats programades són:

• Pont xinès: cable a 1,5 m d'alçada que s'ha de travesar.
• Gran tobogan: baixada de dos en dos per un tobogan de 35 m (cal portar mitjons)
• Supervivència al bosc: si et perds pel bosc, què has de fer? I, sobretot, què no has de fer. Després farem cabanes.
• Circuit Indiana Jones: pista americana al bosc.
• Classe d'equitació a la pista: equitació bàsica.

I a la nit:

• Festa disco: com una disco de veritat, amb música, llums i molta marxa.
  

Si plou es faran activitats alternatives.

El dimarts dia 14 a les 15:00 hores sortirem de La Granja cap a Gavà i cap a les 16:30 h arribarem a la plaça Catalunya. Els i les alumnes de Begues es quedaran al pati, excepte si els venen a buscar els pares o tutors, fins a les 17:20 h que podran agafar l'autocar. La resta d'alumnes se n'anirà cap a casa a descansar.

El dimecres dia 15 d'octubre tots cap a classe a les 8:30 hores.

POSA'T A LA SEVA PELL

L'esport adaptat és aquella activitat física o reglamentada que intenta possibilitar la pràctica esportiva a persones que tenen alguna discapacitat o disminució. Tal com diu la mateixa paraula, consisteix a adaptar els esports tradicionals a les possibilitats dels participants, o a crear altres esports específics, practicats exclusivament per persones amb problemes físics, psíquics o sensorials.

Amb la jonada d'aquest dimecres volem que els alumnes amb minusvalues que tenim al centre puguin practicar esport, també serveix perquè els joves es posin al seu lloc i valorin el gran esforç que fan els que practiquen esport adaptat.

CONVIVÈNCIES PRIMER S'ESO

Els dies 13 i 14 d'octubre els i les alumnes de primer d'ESO marxaran de convivències a La Granja de Santa Maria de Palautordera (Montseny)

Aquesta és una sortida merament lúdica i pensada perquè els nois i les noies, que venen d'escoles diferents, es coneguin divertint-se.
